I a pretty experienced when is come to cinema. been less into it lately because i can sit still for 2+ hours easily. Still i have three directors who i just adore to no end. all three of which can claim that their worst films are in the top 5% of all films and there best are in the third of fourth standard deviations lol

    these guys are

    Ingmar Bergman
Akira Kurosawa (who we have to thank for star wars if you didnt know lol)
    Wong Kar-wai

ya im no really into modern american cinema, honestly im not really into modern cinema much. Only one of those guys is alive lol

for those who didnt know A New Hope is based on kirosawa's 'Hidden Fortress' many characters (like the droids) we basically imported from kurosawa's film. Lucas was a huge samurai flick fan and that why he adapted it.

    i think its cool

whelp... i'm not much of a movie connoisseur. i mean... i liked Transformers... all three of them. so, you can kinda see where i'm coming from.

with that being said... my favorite directors are as follows:

Guillermo del Toro - Pan's Labyrinth; Devil's Backbone... awesome.
Quentin Tarantino - great dialogue / true student of cinema
    Martin Scorsese - nuff said

there are probably more i could add to this list, but three is good enough.

I'm a Huge Akira Kurosawa fan. The Seven Samurai is one of my all-time favorite films. I like Yojimbo too.
Lucas was up there but he's sliding down the scale with all the damn additions he's been making to the Star Wars Trilogy.
Tarantino is a no-brainer along with Scorcese

Tarantino, great writer, great vision. He made the littlest moments in movies more important as the big moments.
Kevin Smith, Clerks defined the nations youth at the time and his writing is fantastic.
Oliver Stone, I like his style. JFK is one of my favorite movies. Makes you feel the story instead of just watching it.
